Opinions about the Dime Defense? Topic

Thinking of giving it a try....along with a 4-4 base. I have not seen a dime in a very long time, wondering why?

thoughts??

Well old buddy, maybe its only useful or practical against the Gun, and, I don't come across that formation often enough to consider it in place of a good nickel D. BTW good luck in Montana, we'll be in each others 180 come recruiting, as if recruiting in WAZZU wasn't difficult enough ;-)

I stayed mainly in d2. but I liked the Nickel better. I was able to use it effectively as my only D and it worked against passing or running.

hey mojo

you are a expert at taking over teams

i rarely if ever

do you move immediately to change the O & D or do you take a season or two to segue

inquirin minds want to know

Just an idea....

first season: play the old formations, take 1 minute of practice out of the old formations and put it into the new formations
second season: play the old formations, leave 1 minute of practice in the old and put the rest in the new
third season: play the new formations

How much time are you putting into your offense/defense formation practice in D1A?

Here's how to find out: check your FIQ growth. check my FIQ growth. look at home much time you are putting into your practice. infer answer from those results. Or if you want to get closer then save results and alter your position practice in the direction that your results show and then look again at the end of the season and compare all the data you have..

Don't claim to be an expert. What I did depends on many things. But mostly I would only take on teams that have formations I had gameplans for. At least for past years or more. That made it easier. Or I would take my gameplans just change the formation to the formation that the new team had. If I didn't like a formation the team had I probably wouldn't take a team. It is much easier than trying to tranistion to another formation.
I have done the transition thing . Then I would practice the old and the upcoming one with 10-13 points in each(this is D2) for 2 seasons on Offense. On D only 1 season or sometimes just change it immediately. I found D didn't affect team as much as O.
On total rebuilds of bad teams you know you're in for lot of losing to start so I would just make them whatever formation I wanted them to be from the get go.
