Yeah, that NL West division has been a bear since league inception (we started with 1961). I've won the most championships in league history, fire13 has won the most games in league history, and the LA franchise (started by slickstick and continued by byeags) had one of the longest runs of sustained excellence I've ever seen...they average just shy of 100 wins for a span of 19 seasons.

and even though I came up short in both examples cited above, they perfectly illustrate why I love progressives....that kind of intense competition over time.

Not high win numbers, but that's cause this is from a 16 team league where the amount of games you play your own division-mates is super high. Lots of tight games here. Lucky to come out on top, each of these teams might have won 100 in a different setting

Wish I had saved the final standings from an open league several years ago. My team won 106 games and finished 3rd in the division.

I've been in a 12-team prog for nearly 40 seasons where the AL (my league) always seems much tougher than the NL. Only the pennant winners make the playoffs; I've had 2nd place teams miss the post-season with win totals of 113 and 112. Which isn't even the record in this prog: one owner once missed the playoffs with 118 wins (he finished 3 games out of 1st).

If anyone knows of a team with more than 118 wins that didn't make the playoffs, I'd love to hear about it...

Stanky Franky won the wild card; at the time a 163rd game was played between tied division teams even if both had qualified for the playoffs. (Nobody liked that.) Naturally Sustaining Ignorance and Stanky Franky both lost in the LDS, though their opponents were 103- and 99-win teams so they weren’t really upsets.

I could probably find a few more.

I didn't keep the standings, but several years ago (when I still played open leagues) I had a team win 106 games and finish 3rd in the division.

Turns out I still have the e-mails from most of my old leagues so this should be easier. Hopefully it will look okay.

Anyhow, in this league that concluded play on 11/15/2005, three divisions had all teams finish over .500. As one can see, a major factor was some astonishing ineptitude in other divisions.
