A couple of random thoughts on basketball... Topic

I grew up playing Strat-o-matic basketball. In their game there was a lot of switching. While watching the NBA play-offs this year I heard a lot of talk about switching. There was a lot about how Golden State could switch with their personnel and still play good defense. Does switching even occur here?

Another thing you hear on TV is that when a team goes small the other team has to go small to keep up with them. Here, it seems that teams want to go big and stuff it down the throat of any small team. I guess we're using numbers as ratings and there is no speed rating. Like milest recently said on another post, there just aren't any good solutions for some problems.

Yeah.  These are among the many reasons I say that you're not playing basketball, you're playing statistical probabilities. When  you start thinking too much basketball, you end up getting frustrated by the limitations of the sim.

edit:  a quick note, though... you could explain switching a little by the fact that the defensive rating of everyone on the defensive team is factored into the shooter's make/miss chance.  Somewhat.
