Is Lebron's Eff really worth it? Topic

When you consider, for a bit more you can draft a few different Michael Jordans, all of which score more, have much more minutes, & higher defensive ratings, is it really worth drafting Lebron because of his Eff FG% rating? Just wondering. I've had Lebron a few times but I don't remember if I ever had MJ. Just looks like surrounding MJ with one or two high assists guys may be better way to go. Any insight is appreciated.

efg should be considered in light of attempts per minute (not just usage), all else is probably based on context but the best Lebron seasons are (in sim terms) probably better stat-for-stat than the best MJ seasons - don't use names, use numbers

depends on... everything.  Keep in mind that lebron's high ast% also helps boost his own fg%.  Most Jordan & Lebron seasons are the same defensively.  Jordan's lower tov% also helps offset the fg% deficit.  Lebron has (generally) more threes.  96-97 Jordan is an incredible value buy for OLs, though... as is 05-06 Lebron.

Best advice is what copernicus said: don't use the names; just use the numbers.

Yeah, I know. I look at the numbers. Just wondering how much the eff FG numbers are worth for a player who often gives just 35 min/game compared to a guy who's eff FG rating is still good but also gets you 5 or 6 more minutes, plus better D.

Btw, you mentioned 96-97 Jordan & 05-06 Lebron. What kinda combination do you think that'd be?

better D? for most of their key seasons Mike is a 90, Lebron is a 90 - what better D are we talking about? + Lebron = > assists & >rebounding which are important factors - regarding the extra minutes you actually will pay more for those (like a million more for the extra 4 mpg)

I would use either but not both.  Better to pair one of them with a higher efg% running mate.

If money is no object, which Michael Jordan performs the best?

had a nice long reply typed up but web crashed on me.  So short answer:

I prefer 89-90 over 87-88 & 88-89.  All three are good, but the 3s the 89-90 gives tips it over the edge for me.  90-91 & 95-96 are both excellent open league seasons, but 96-97 is just an insane bang for your buck.  Needless to say, MJ is one of the top progressive league grabs.

I echo ashamael's thoughts completely.

If money is no object, then 89-90 Jordan.

If open league, 96-97 Jordan.  He is the best bang-for-buck player in the sim, and THE perfect open league compliment to 66-67 Wilt.

I was referring to MJ's seasons with 100 & 94. I remember those two off the top of my head.

So, how do you guys feel about other Wilt seasons in the SIM? Some may cost 10.5 mil, you get a lot of minutes & rebounds but he only averages 13 points a game. Is he really worth it when he limits you spending at other positions?

both of those seasons are significantly inferior in EFG to the best Lebron season and no the 4 to 10 pt difference in Drtg will not offset that (somewhere ash has made some sagacious comments on drtg vs efg) + the stats where Lebron excels, EFG, Rbd%, As% are more significant contributors to the sim equation

66-67 Wilt is best player in the sim.

both 67-68 & 68-69 are excellent as well.  68-69 is almost never used but used to be a staple.  I may make a squad featuring it later on.

The early Warrior seasons are kind of inefficient for that kind of money.  65-66 is okay, but you're better off using combinations of Shaq for a monetary value.

The 70s versions of Wilt are okay, but I am not a believer in paying $10m for a tier 5 or tier 6 guy at the center position, no matter what his efg% is.  I'd much rather spend that money on improving the efg% of higher usage guys.

Really? Clearly I have a lot to figure out with this yet.
