Rookie performance/liability Topic

About twenty games into my season, I called up two rookies, a SG/SF and a SF/PF.  They've both been playing extremely well, and I have been able to play them more minutes than I would have expected.

Though I've played several theme leagues, this is my first open league, and I don't know how hard I can ride these rookies.  I've got players with real salaries on my inactive roster, and, if I can rely on the rookies, I can waive one or more veterans and upgrade some other position.

These are their per-48 minute stats.  HAmmond is a "D" and McElroy is a "C."

                                                                   pts     fg%    3p%  ft%     oreb  reb    a     t       st   bl      to
2011 Henry Hammond (R)   0 - 31.5 43.6 43.8 83.3 1.5 3.4 4.8 3.9 3.4 0.5 6.8
73-74 Matt Guokas 17 0 - 13.6 33.3 33.3 75.0 0.0 5.1 6.2 3.4 0.6 0.0 4.5
2011 Roy McElroy (R)   0 - 26.7 44.4 0.0 100.0 6.4 16.0 3.2 3.2 5.3 0.0 6.4

Are these stats totally unsustainable?

Generally speaking, is it advisable to have a few 239,000 guys on an open league team, so that you have somebody inexpensive to cut and replace?

Draft 3 minimum salary players so you can replace them with the 3 rookies.

Yup.  This is pretty S.O.P. for OLs now.

Thanks - I wish I had thought of it for this league.  If nothing else, the rookies are great for eating up minutes at the end of one-sided games, so your Tim Duncans and Fat Levers can rest.

All of my sim experience has been in high-cap theme leagues, so I don't know open league strategy as well.  I may just waive my greater-than-minimum-salaried inactive players and try to pick somebody better up off of the waiver wire.
