Advice for a Newbie Topic

I have 2 teams, both are doing awful.  Any advice on how to look up players stats?  I know what the + stats mean, but what do the # mean?  And how do you use both successfully?

There is a thread somewhere on newbie advice...  Maybe someone can bump it?

To answer you questions specifically, #stats give you an idea how well a player will do against competition across all years.  I'd recomend using them istead or simple stats or + stats.  For hitters the most important stats are avg#, obp# and slg#.

Are you drafting teams that match the park you select?

One thing I learned a long time ago at WIS is you pay for two things when you draft any player -- quantity (# of PA/IP) and quality.  The more you have of the former, the less you can afford of the latter.  So it's important to figure out just how few PA/IP you can get by with.

Just looking briefly at your two rosters (which I assume are in OLs?) it looks like you drafted way too many innings for both teams.  You could probably have drafted 300 fewer, and much better, innings for both teams.
