Amazing Season from 1996 Rick Helling Topic

Here are his updated stats after 32.2 IP in an OL.  ERA  .28 / OAV  .097 / WHIP .49

Anybody seen better stats from a closer?

I had a Cla Meredith go 49/49 on saves with a 0.34 ERA once, but I've never seen an OAV or WHIP that low before, even in only 32 IP.

Not too surprising.  Unless I'm missing somebody, only Mike Adams, Neftali Feliz and Milacki have a better OAV in the SIM performance histories, and only Milacki and Mike Adams have a better WHIP.  Helling's SIM greatness is underrated.

I have such a big lead in my division that I'm resting him for the last 22 games, but I suspect with that WHIP that I could probably get another 5 or 6 innings out of him.

I just looked at his Game Log and he's appeared in 32 games.  He gave up 3 hits and a run in his very first appearance in which he only pitched two thirds of an inning.  Since that game he has appeared in 31 games, pitched 32 innings, faced 106 batters and given up only 7 hits 6 walks and no runs. So, for the last 32 innings his numbers are as follows:

ERA 0.00 / OAV .066 / WHIP .41

Can someone say...LIGHTS OUT!
