Chamberlain as starter Topic

I am looking for a way to get max IP out of '88 Chamberlain. If I use him as spot starter for '88 Kid Madden in a 3-man rotation, will that work for a whole season?

if Chamberlain starts every 6th game he'll need to be on a low pitch count.

Best way to get max IP is to use him as RP and spot start him along the way as need presents itself.

A quick question.  If you are half way through the season and you pick a player on waivers and he has 160 innings pitched does is his recovery for fatigue slower? I have a player with 60ip off waivers started him one game and he is taking FOREVER to recover? Also I heard there is a way to scout AAA players? what does this mean?

You only get a prorated amount of his IP total.  This number is based on how many games your league has played when you pick him up.  If you picked up your 60 IP pitcher exactly halfway through the season, he will only have half (30) of his innings left for you to use.

As for maxing Chamberlain's IP, his IP/G allows him to safely throw over 100 pitches in spot starts, or throw 2-3 innings at a time in relief appearances, so it really shouldn't be that difficult to use all his innings over the course of a season.

do any of you use the waiver wire at all, in the middle of the season, beginning, or later?

I think I will need to start Chamberlain every 9 games. What should his pitch count be?

Here's a shortcut estimate, innings divided by 10 = pitches per game. Chamberlain's K and BB are low so round down. monitor the sutuation and make adjustments as you go.

Elbirdo's pitch count formula gives a very good estimate for how many pitches any pitcher is safely allowed to throw in a season.  Chamberlain has very close to 2000 pitches per season.  You can figure out reasonable pitch counts from there, based on how you're going to use him.

Firesalt - Chamberlain is a first-rate starter...I suggest you use him to spot start in important games, such as vs. the team you're fighting against for 1st place or for the wildcard slot...
