autorest default Toney 50. Chamberlin 90 ? ? ? ? Topic

My 18 Toney has an autorest default of 50. I have him set for long relief.

My 88 Chamberlain, also long relief, has autorest default of 90. Their IP are not that much different. Why are their autorests set so differently?

I could find nothing that explains clearly what autorest means and how to adjust it. The help section was not very detailed. I searched the forum using "autorest" and came up empty.

Someone point me in the right direction?

thanks

If a pitcher's autorest is higher than his current fatigue rating he is automatically put in the "rest" box.     The sim defaults the mopup guy (who they put there in the very beginning) at 50 and everyone else at 90 (I think).   You can change with the edit user settings button on the team center page.

Schedule for the season has not yet been generated. No games played. Is the sim saying something about him? Does it have something to do with IP/game, PC/inning?

No. The SIM uses the following criteria for predetermined roles. Note that this is not official, just from my observations. And this is in order (ie it searches for 2 only with the pitchers left over after it finds 1, etc.):

1) The highest IP/162 pitchers (enough to obtain 900+ IP in the rotation) are assigned as starters. (Limit 6 here, obviously)
2) The pitcher with the highest # of saves = Closer A
3) The pitcher with the highest # of IP/162 = Long A
4) As far as I can still, the SIM uses a rather random method of assigning setups and mopups. Or, at least, they utilize a stat that's not immediately apparent in the Team Center.

When determining autorest, it utilizes the User Settings, but tends to put anyone assigned as a mopup to 50.
