I just had a game sim in a theme league, the first game of the season. In the 9th inning of a tie game my opponent's starter was pulled, and two 200K scrubs coughed up a run and cost him the game.
Right away I suspected what had happened: my opponent was caught off guard by the start of the league (this one had taken a while to fill) and for some reason his 200K pitchers, which I'm sure he'd intended to use as mops (if at all -- this theme has AAA), were put in roles they shouldn't have been put in.
I clicked on the Propose Trade link so I could see what roles his pitchers were in:
It was the two Setup A's who lost the game for him. You'll notice his Long A, Long B, and one of his Setup B's all have much better numbers than the 2 Setup A's.
It's not a big deal, I suppose, since every owner should examine these things himself and set things up the way he wants. But if there are going to be default settings at all, why do they have to be so random? I remember I had a team in a theme league that was made up almost entirely of 1967 White Sox (there were a few twists). Guess who was put in the role of mop? Cisco Carlos, one of the best pitchers in the SIM.
