Coors in 200M League Topic

Can someone share some of their experience with a park like coors at very high caps (180M+)? Is it pretty much a crap shoot or are all high cap leagues crap shoot anyway?

Win percentage shifts towards parity as an owner's drafting/managing advantage over other owners becomes less enforcable. A large chunk of the game is learning how to score runs efficiently. As team OBP goes up, so does the reflection of your ability to use it efficiently. Theres always a lot of parity at low caps, because the average team OBP is about .320.
So, basically there should be less and less parity as cap size increases. When, you get to $180mil, parity starts to increase a little bit again though, because the database is limited and you see a lot of the same players on teams. Still, however, I usually win 60-70% of games at $255mil, just on the merits of scoring a bit more efficiently than other owners.

booger is right, but its basically a crap shoot anyway. when u get to that high cap of a league, its less about strategy, and more about scoring runs efficiently. its important to figure out which players do well at which parks... personally i dont like it, bc it eliminates a lot of the strategy in sim. my personal opinion.

Well guess my first foray into coors is gonna be at this very high cap league. Let's just hope my ruth can outslug theirs.

I don't think high cap leagues are crap shoots, although I've heard that repeated many times as conventional wisdom since I joined the site. If that were true, experienced owners would have little or no advantage over inexperienced ones in high cap leagues. I play high caps often enough to know that that's just not true. What is absolutely true is that as you get to the cap extremes (either high or low), you have a smaller player pool from which to draft. If you draft outside that pool, you have no chance of succeeding. For that reason (among others), an inexperienced owner who works at understanding how the sim works can achieve success more quickly. There's just less to learn.
