Don't normally do something like this but I was wondering what others thought....it's my pick in a progressive and I have a choice between 1915 Walter Johnson or 1955 Willie Mays...actually everyone that played in 1915 or 1955 except the Babe and Hornsby. Where would you go? I'm leaning towards The Big TRain, but Sey Hey is so damn good for so long. Agonizing. What say you?

Its a tough call. Good pitching is always key to a successful prog team. But, in this case Wajo only has 5-6 good seasons and his best are behind him. Mays is good about 9-10 years, but I'd take Mickey Mantle over either of them. My advice, follow your gut.

I looked at Mantle too.....pretty massive stats. Argh!

I'd go with the Mick too and do my best to have a competitive team right off the bat.

I went with the big train....just cause I wanted him on my team more than the others.

Big Train is a good choice. Maybe only 6 great seasons, but another 6 that are very good, and a lot of them are 300+ IP. You could come a lot closer to replacing what Mays/Mantle give you over that length of time with a few players than you could to replacing what Walter brings to the table, even with some of his best seasons already gone.

Unless I've already got a killer staff, I almost always take the good pitching over good hitting in a draft.

Looking closer at Johnson's stats, I think you made the best choice.
