I recall doing this a long time ago - maybe you cannot anymore. I think I was part of a league once where the league founder pulled his team and never came back.

As long as at least one team remains in the league when you take your team out, the league will remain as is. If you set up a league, and take your team out when it's the only one entered, the league will vanish.

I am currently in a theme where the league founder pulled his team. The league is intact.
