Sorry A#% AAA Pitchers Topic

Is it just me, or do all AAA pitchers suck since the update? I have three OL teams, and I swear I must have the worst 6 (total) AAA pitchers in the sim. They all have ERA's near or above 10.00, and it seems like each and every time ANY of them come into a game, even when winning by a lot and have their pc set to 5 to 10 pitches - to limit the damage they will cause - they give up runs and often lose the game. Is this just me, or do others have AAA pitchers who shouldn't even be in the sim?

Identify who your pitchers are, then come back with more information.

Nothing to tell, Boogerlips. I identified them when the seasons started, but their stats were so insignificant that I deemed them useless and didn't even keep note of who they actually were. I only use them in three ways (1) mop up, (2) for 5-10 pitches to help a long reliever complete a second inning if necessary, and (3) to start the season to lessen the damping factor on my real starters. But hell, even when I have them set on rest and have their available for relief box unchecked in the advanced settings (i.e., "do not pitch under any circumstances"), Sparky finds a way to get them in the games.

Both AAA pitchers on my current champs league team have a sub 4 era (playing in the astrodome).

Lucky you! Wanna trade? LOL

Their stats are completely significant. In fact, I can't think of anything else that would be significant in a discussion of 'whether or not these players are worse than the AAA of yesteryear.'

Posting Stats: leads to a discussion with a relevant conclusion
Not Posting Stats: Leads to inane rambling with no conclusion

Just sayin...

Point taken, Boog. What I meant was that their stats were so bad that I would never, in four lifetimes, ever consider drafting any of them. That's why never even kept a record or note of who they actually were. Just imagine 50-70 inning pitchers with OAVs of .300 or more, 2.00+ WHIPS and 6.00 to 8.00 ERAs. That's how bad the numbers were. Not precise figures, but you get the point.

Since the update I have experienced two types of AAA pitchers. Decent pitchers with crappy stamina - like in the 30 ip/162 range - or absolutely horrible 8+ ERA guys with better stamina that I can't do anything with but mopup or they kill me.

It seems AAA P's are much less useful than the hitters who can have value up to $2.6M. Average AAA Starters have a cap of $1.85. You ever try to pick up a decent spot starter for that? Odds are horrible if you make it random. I expect to get nothing out of my AAA now and draft a complete staff accordingly. If I get anything remotely decent it's gravy...yummm gravy good...

Good point Cbaltz. I guess WIS must have heard me complaining because I just got a AAA SP in a new OL with ratings of 10 control, 3 velocity, 10 effectiveness and C stamina. Even still, he'll probably give up 6 runs in one third of an inning on less than pitches. LOL

Hmm, since the update, I have had very good AAA

I have a question about this in general.... it seems to me that what type of quaility you get either from your AAA hitters or pitchers has some relation to what type of position players or pitchers you come into the league with.. for example... if my best offensive position player with the most AB's happens to be my catcher then my best offensive AAA player will also be a catcher. The same would hold true if my drafted catcher has an A+ arm.. so will my AAA catcher.

Thoughts?

The best way to say that is to send them back to AAA...

Cameraeye, you might just be on to something there because now that you mentioned it, I discovered that I experienced the same thing. On my newest OL team, I have sluggers like 44 Wakfield, 19 Gavvy, 13 Gavvy, 15 Gavvy, 46 Cullenbine and 31 Hornsby and WIS GAVE me 61 Duke Snider as a AAA.

280 PA .296 AVG 16 HR .375 OBP and .562 SLG

Guess they're making up for all the crappy AAA pitchers they gave me. LOL
