Without AAA, I don't think 516 PA is enough for the 6 or 7 spot in the order. At least not without fatigue that will make his glove worse.

I don't know the exact numbers but I'd guess the B/B+ version will give you about 20 errors and a handful of + plays. The A/D+ version will probably be around 10-12 errors and a handful of - plays... so their gloves are probably a wash.

If it's an option I'd probably take the '87 version and just hit him 8th, then spend the money elsewhere. But if you need him to be a big contributor to your lineup I'd go with '86.

I'd put '88 9th and have the pitcher bat 8th. Sure, there will be less guys in front of him to drive in batting 9th but the 87 version is pretty damn terrible. Not to mention that many lineup calculators suggest putting a decent OBP 9th with your best hitter 2nd. The way the sim works with PA so many great players can be slotted 9th and wouldn't hurt your offense at all, and in many cases improve it. The perfect 9 hitter would have less power and more speed but the OBP is good enough.

Even if the gloves play to a wash as jfranco said the difference in hitting is huge.

since you indicated that it's going to be difficult to spend all your cap space, I'd definitely go with the '86. No fatigue concerns, close enough in D and better range.

If you have any kind of late inning replacement, then the '88 version for sure.

why are people so afraid to use their bench? use the lowPA Gaetti and draft 1 or 2 of those $300k bench players who should be $500k.

Its an odd draft league where the 1st person picks a team and everyone draft from that team for the round. The players are 1950-09 and the cap is 120 mil so I think it will be a bit hard to reach the cap. I should be able to get a decent backup somewhere along the line if I go with 88.
