I'm in a progressive where the World Series winner had a .497 regular season winning %. I've never seen a sub .500 team win the World Series before. I'm sure there's been worse. I'm curious if anyone knows what the record is.

I once won a live league with an 80 win team that went on to win a TOC as well. Although there's an asterisk there because that team shouldn't have even made the playoffs -- it got in because the division winner missed the live minimum requirement.

I'm sure plenty of teams with even fewer wins have won a WS, though. In my Random Captain theme league, a team with 74 wins made it all the way to the Finals before losing.

In the last FGY7 league I was the WS runner up to a team that won just over 30 games, his team also beat mine in the TOC as he went all the way to win that as well. Have to love FGY7 leagues!

Speaking of FGY7, anybody want to get a new one going (I'd volunteer but I've got the KOSC I'm working on filling right now)?

Certainly not the record, but worth mentioning (to me, anyway).. my Montreal Spectres prog. league team:

1981 was the watershed year for Montreal. Midyear, we traded Greg Luzinski to the AL New York franchise for a 2nd round draft choice and a rookie SS. That rookie SS blasted the ball for half a season and the trade of the Bull forced the Roenicke/Lowenstein platoon into motion. They provided a spark that led to a 10-2 record in the last round of divisional play and a division championship, albeit with a losing record (79-83). Montreal swept Houston in three games to start the playoffs, then beat the Los Angeles Looters in six games to advance to the World Series. Facing the powerful Texas Superspurs in the World Series, we fell behind 3 games to 1 but rallied to win the final three and steal the championship!

I won a title with a 79 win team, winning all 3 series in the max number of games...3 wins on the road in deciding games!!
