Has anyone experimented with this setting? What effect does it have? Less double plays? More caught stealing? What type of offense should be set to a 5 or a 1?

I've never tried anything higher than 0. I'd think you'd have to draft a Dodger Stadium team that can't draw a walk to save their lives and never strkes out. Like a bunch of little David Ecksteins (Oh God the horror!). I guess the runner on first gets to third more often.......or something.

Absolutely more caught stealings....I think the SIM logic for H&R is pretty quirky. I usually set mine pretty low.

Teams built with the old "speed strategy" work well with 5's. In general, teams that don't have a lot of hitting should probably use higher #'s.

Teams that rely on HR's probably should avoid it.

I usually leave it at 3 unless I have a particularly speedy team... then I might bump it to 4.

I usually use about a three. I don't notice a lot of caught stealings. More often than not, the guy at the plate grounds out and the runner from first ends up on second, avoiding the DP.

even with a speed team, i'll leave it alone. except when i'm playing a guy like piazza with a D- arm.

Hit and run has more to do with contact hitters than speed.
