I'm starting to play theme leagues and I would like to join a 60/20 WAA 200M league.

I am in a 100M WAA league and my AAA hitters are quit good so far (at Sick Stadium). But what does 60/20 means?

Really, 60 WAA fielders? How many very good 10? 20?? More??? How many quality PA can I get from them? 1000? 2000?? How many pitchers 5? 10??

What are the average pitches per-game? 175? 200? Should I draft 2000 quality IP?

I have an idea, but no clue how to draft that team (PAs and IPs).

Any help or pointers or forum links would be really nice.

Thanks in advance for all answers.

the only advice i can give you is don't count on any more of 2 of your pitchers being useful. And I would say 25-30% of the AAA WAAA hitters are good so you would probably have around a dozen useful hitters.

With $200M you shouldn't need to use many AAA players unless the theme calls for it. At that cap, hardly any of your pitches will be worth playing. You might get a handful of useful position players but even then you be able to get better players through your drafting.

60 hitters is overkill. spend most of your budget on pitching. draft only the best. when you have money over for hitting, get only the best there too. no sense wasting $8M on a hitter when he's only a slight upgrade over your best WAA AAA.

I agree. In a 200mil league I would spend all my money on elite pitching a starting line-up. Draft 200K bench and mop-up. You will easily find a handful of .350+ hitters as well as an A/A/A or better catcher for back-up. At that cap I would not use any of the pitchers for anything other than mop up. The problem with the pitchers is that they are based on IP/162 not WHIP#, WHIP+ or HR/9+. So you don't normally find cookie relievers. The salary that they cap SP at knocks out most of the elite SP.

oh, didnt notice it was $200M. 60/20 is really overkill, you won't need much help from of these guys.

i agree with everyone else, at 200mil your AAA guys won't be doing much of anything. this is pre-update but here are the BEST guys i had at every position from a batch of 60/20 WAA AAA.

I have begun many leagues with 60/20 waa AAA, although never at a 200m cap. In my leagues, which were 80m cap, the winning team, in every instance, used this stategy. Most of the 80m was spent on pitching, with one superstar or 2 star position players. At 200k, i don't think your AAA will be anything but fillers.

tx everyone.

league as closed too fast so I have 2300IP from quality deadballers (total RL .206 oav .94 whip 1.62 era 7hr total everything above 120+, but only 2 LHP) and a A+ range field (top range fielders with at least 111+ of everything, and kind of A- avg. fielding plus 17M Ruth at RF) with over 6500PA (RL ~.360 ba, 310 hr, 1.072 ops) at Robison -1 0 0 -1+2.

I think I'm gonna lack IPs... cause my AAA pitchers are not that good (maybe 3 SUB or LB, Tekulve, Righetti, Morgan). But my hitters !!!! Cobb, Lajoie, Shoeless Joe. 57 out of 60 with A stamina!! I think I understand why the strategy of best bullpen possible...

I'm really curious about how I'll manage this. Obvious lack of quality LHP (300IP)... and maybe too many deadballers but I figure everybody will draft Ruths, McGwire and Bonds or other monsters.

Any predictions (12 players league)??? below .500? above? lack of innings? too much money on fielding? Can my fielding buy enough innings? Am I dead in advance?

I honestly think 2300 IP will be enough. I know it's a crazy amount of offense but that is still a ton of innings. Worst comes to worst you can take your best AAA SP and make him a mop-up guy.

I haven't played in a league with that high a cap in a long time. I also have, in my recant leagues, eschewed the dead ball era pitchers. So, I am very curious how this will turn out for you. It is my understanding, but I do not know this, that AAA players and pitchers are normalized based on the current season, in this case 2009. If the league allows use of the WW, that can be a very powerful tool to use, if used carefully, and properly. Also, the opportunity to trade is present. If you start out badly, you should be able to rebuild mid-season.
