...but the WIS NBA sim done ****** me off again.

I'm going for the scoring record with Wiltzilla (61-62) obviously and this afternoon, he had a season low point total of 50 (through 36 games) against a 26 DEF rated 53-54 Neil Johnston and Wiltzilla was NOT double teamed. On top of that, Wilt tied a season low FTA at 8, playing against a C that averages 3.6 fouls/game IRL and a PF that averages 3.9 fouls/game IRL....just unreal. I will admit I've adopted some bizarre tactics for this team, however for the season lows to come against this competition is ridiculous. I remember now why I don't play this game regularly anymore.

nice 107 point game by the stilt!

Thanks, the guy whose single season record I might break kind of paid homage to Wilt in that game. I appreciated it, but certainly didn't ask for it. Its pretty cool having the most hated guy at the top in this sim though lol.

I think I am going to use my last GC on a team build around the 67-68 Wilt and attempt to get a trip-dub.

I probably won't, because I'll have a lot of assists... just think I might get close if I build it right and still have a realistic shot of winning 50+ games.

Isnt it pathetic that this is what the SIM has become? Trying to build teams around accomplishing some sort of weird stat goal? I am in the same boat, my current teams are all just my fav players and stupid stuff like that. My "Sim stinks play my facorites" team won my division and is currently down 2-1 in the 2nd round of the playoffs to a squad of Barros-Rice-Peja-Rodman-Moses..................how original!

I can't help but feel like I got in at the 8th inning on WISNBA, and that the 9th will be the last ever. : /

Yeah. periodically I make a team around my favorite player just because he's my favorite... too bad he's in that small group that people frown on now (Barkley). I don't care, though, I roll with other strange players around him and do well.

I made a team that's yet to start called the "Cookie Monsters" with the intent of eating the peja/jesus/nash teams up. It uses Rodman, but I couldn't come up with a way around it and use the guys I wanted on the wings.

But I'm stupidly excited over the wilt tripdub attempt. More so than any competitive league.

Well I came back ag the cookie cutter squad but then lost game 7 on my home court by 6, he had 9 more 3 pointers from the cookie squad and shot 20 more FT........on my home court in a game 7. Russell Barkley Bird Hawkins Magic combined to shoot a whopping 9 FT at home to his 28! Oh well love this SIM!

When that happens in real life, people claim Stern placed biased refs in the game to get a desired result. :)

Oh how the human mind wants complete structure in a world of randomness.

Just checked the assigned refs Donaghy and Joey Crawford did the game!! ;-)

Really I don't mind I knew I was cooked because it was a typical cookie cutter squad. I stood no chance in the next round the team that advanced swept me 3-0 EASILY in the reg season. The point here is that it's mind numbing how stupid and predictable this SIM has become. I don't understand how certain owners, at least 4-6 in every OL I've joined, can put the standard cookie cutter squads out there and enjoy it. The fun part is building your team, it cracks me up too that the majority(not all) of the cookie owners don't/won't post in the forums and or message boards in OL. That leads me to believe that they know they are f'in cowards that are ball less because they know they are taking the chiken$hit way out with their teams. Good luck fellas, I only have 1 more free team to burn!

I made a team with the mindset of eating up the peja-jesus-nash threesome... only to find only one team like that (and a lot of really good backcourts, instead).

serves me right.

The difference is statistics determine the outcome of these games. Real life determines statistics. We buy our teams based on statistics, and when they fail to perform close to those statistics, that's when owners get frustrated.

In your scenario, I'd be shocked if Jordan shot less than 55% from the field in the series.

Oh so you stumbled onto the cookie. I can believe that. I stumbled onto a winning strategy real fast myself. My apologies for sounding like a jerk.

Well, the programmers of the sim have two approaches to take to the statistics.

1) Past occurrences have no effect on current behavior
2) Current behavior is modified by previous results

An example to explain:

* Jordan will shoot 20 shots during the game
* Jordan has a 50% FG
* Jordan ran bad during his first 12 shots, making 2 of 12

Under the first system (and how life works), his expectation for the game after the 12th shot is 6/20.

It sounds like you want the second behavior, where Jordan will have a higher probability of making shots after missing a a few in a row (and vice versa). This forces a fast (and artificial) regression to the mean.

This is where we disagree. I enjoy the randomness of seeing player X having an outlier game, series, and even season.

That's not to say the sim doesn't have problems. And the pricing system seems to be way off. My ratings much better correspond to player actual value than their price.

One problem is certain players offer way too much benefit for their price. For instance, Ed Pickney and Jeff Foster offer some great seasons. However, they bring similar things to the table that Dennis Rodman, well, owns. Rodman offers much more value per $.

So yeah, I could go unique and select Pickney or Foster, but I'd be handicapping myself.

The biggest problem is low FG% players are severely overpriced by the sim. This kills almost all the older players.
