I think having this knowledge will be a key element in how we draft players from now on. Most experienced owners are aware that 1968 was a great year for pitcher performance, and that 1894 and 1930 were great years for hitter performance (in real life). We have these years (and others) stuck in our heads as relative statistical extremes in regards to
pitcing and
hitting. Now that relative
fielding has been added to the drafting equation, it becomes important to know what the best/worst fielding years are. Since the WIS search engine isn't going to put an asterisk next to these years, the information must be gathered from an outside source such as baseballreference.com. Any takers?
Edit: I can't find this information anywhere. Most of the historical stats on sites like baseballreference.com are limited to pitching and hitting.
