So I took over a team with all SIM recruits. One of my WR is a SO and has very high potential and over 50 WE at the DIII level. His core stats are very bad. I have recruited 2 WR in this class that would obviously start over him. My question is since he has high WE and Potential, if I redshirt him as a SO to try and improve his skills and get something out of him after the redshirt year does his WE go in the tank since I am redshirting him as a SO? I had a 23 player class on a team of all SIM recruits. I need most of my FR that I just signed to play so I may not have 3 FR to redshirt because they will be starting.

It won't go in the tank, but it will drop by 7-8 points. I've done this before when I need to balance out my class or when I signed someone with a promise of a freshman start and/or playing time and could not redshirt them their first year. Not that big of a deal.

I don't play D3, but I think at the higher levels it would drop more than just 7-8 pts if you redshirt a SO. Why are you looking to redshirt him? Is it just because he has VH potential and good WE? If his cores are too low then it won't really matter anyways. If you have a VH potential with good WE but his cores are below average then he will probably only work his way up to average. You lose points in his WE which will take you most of the season to gain back, so therefore it's a moot point. Unless it's to balance out your team then I would say you're not really going to gain anything by redshirting him.
