I have a recruit that I should not have offered a scholorship..... and on top of that gave him promised start.

My question is.... Is there a bigger hit on rep and loyalty if I rescind his scholorship or just not play him?

Not great either way. I'd cut him and move on. You lose the use of the scholarship slot for four seasons if you just hold on to him.

If he's truly useless, holding onto him is pointless, as his WE plummet without starts. However, first look at whether he could be useful in some other position. If it's a QB and you're missing a K or P, you could move him into that open slot as a starter. Without knowing the specifics, my gut says that cutting him is the most likely option.
