Welllll, it looks like no one has responded to you so maybe I can help a bit.
The game engine needs conferences of 12, so shuffling them now would be a a major rewrite, using resources that are better spent elsewhere.
Yes, passing attacks do better than rushing attacks. C'est la vie.
There is no partying in this game any more. Don't worry about how literate the recruit seems. GPA is a predictor of how fast formation IQ will improve. A recruit may give positive responses, even wildly positive (eg. top o' list), responses to any coach whose program he is considering (is yellow). The order in which the yellow schools are listed on the recruiting page is real..
At the end of the season, if you are not in the playoffs, you need to improve your recruiting. That time can be used productively by scouting recruits for what you need, and studying what nearby schools might be your stiffest recruiting competition and at which position(s). Don't "do nothing."
Generally, start out by sticking to your 360-500 in recruiting, avoid recruiting battles w/humans, learn how to determine which battles you can't win and which are worth initiating, stick to 1 offense & 1 defense formation. You've gotten some good tips.
Beating top 25 teams in preseason may not mean as much as you think if they are playing their frosh a lot, or experimenting with new formations or new game plans. Top teams have a lot of constructive uses for exhibition games -- learn from them.
Pay attention to the forums, and you will gradually learn to separate the wheat from the chaff here. Good luck.
