Well, I tried. I think at best, a coach can turn Hawaii into a very good D-1AA team. The cost to recruit players is just too much to over-come.

I don't think it's possible, but I'm not a top tier coach. Maybe kensei or cebrake should try to see if it's possible.

Kind of like a superb boxer with one arm. Even with the skill you are too handicapped there.

There's gotta be some chance that the best players in the nation randomly spawn in Hawaii right? My ceiling at Hawaii has been making the playoffs and getting destroyed in the first round. Still keeping at it though, I figure at some point the best player in the nation will spawn in Hawaii...

In Heisman, both bjschumacher and I had #1 draft choices from Hawaii (QB & OL) so it can happen.

In Camp, I've got a very good Sophomore (RS) Quarterback that I was hoping to see as a Senior, but this years recruiting broke my back. I needed two offensive linemen, and after having spent about 30k on two good D-1AA players, a couple knucklehead D-1A coaches came in and flipped them. I didn't have enough to get any OL this year. That's the way it is at Hawaii. Any Joe Blow can flip your recruits and if a couple coaches do it, you're devastated. I'm just going to drop the team.

There are a few coaches that could win with all scrubs, but I think they choose not to...to avoid drawing too much attention or it being too ridiculous looking.
Kudos...they are just that good at manipulating the settings.

The team may suck but it's worth staying for the Hula dancers

Yes, but when D-1A schools flip the two mediocre D-1AA offensive linemen you've spent 30k on recruiting and turned green, and you're left with walk-on offensive linemen, that's another thing.

besides the obvious handicaps of hawaii, the wac is usually empty and kills sos and ranking. that's how i was able to break the game with ucf. i was dominating bcs teams but it wouldn't have mattered without a full power conference usa getting me the chance to play in nc game. playoff system probably made it worse for hawaii but still applies you can't get a high seed beating an empty wac

Less than a month later Blind Squirr has Hawaii as a 1 seed (even with a loss) and a Top 10 SOS - Phenomenal season

LFG! Reading the post I didn't realize he already built a bad *** hawaii team lol. Don't let one bad recruit discourage you that's a great squad

Plus the seniors there now were recruited with a low team prestige. It will only get easier to sign players now that have established success
