D2 / Recruiting Questions Topic

I haven’t had a team below D1 in an eternity, but just took a D2 team for fun. Total rebuild with 27 total wins in the last 4 season, and it’s been a Sim since 2021. Roster blows.

Questions:
1) How many AC and/or HC scouting trips to turn an Undecided green?

I know it’s only 2 AC and 1 AC to turn them green with my D1 teams.

2) What does it take to knock off D2 Sims? What about D3 Sims?

Thanks!

D3 player here. 1. Occasionally an AC or HC scout will turn an undecided green at D3 level. My experience would say maybe 10% of the time with one AC scout assuming no one else put any recruiting effort in. I haven't personally tried to continue to give AC or HC scout green after the first didn't work so I don't know how many it would take. I go right to a CV after that and sometimes with a HC scout.

2. General rule of thumb with D3 sims is 3 CVs will turn green the majority of the time. If not then one more should do it. However, the later in the recruiting cycle you are the more it can take.

To piggyback on Spartan56, I think your team's prestige does play a part of it. I'm also a DIII coach and had built F&M from virtually nothing into a perennial Top-10 team that would reach the 3rd or 4th round every season. Toward the end of my tenure there, I could send one AC or HC scout to undecided DII players, and usually get 5-10 recruits to go green just doing that.
I just took over a DIII team that has the second-lowest winning percentage all-time of any DIII team in that world. A human hasn't coached that team in around 50 seasons. None of the DII undecideds that I sent a scout to went green. Only one DIII undecided would even consider me with just an AC or HC scout.
