Hey Coaches,

I took over a D II team that was running a wishbone offense. According to Next Guess that is the best formation for this team. I have no familiarity with best practices for this formation. I tried the WIS Search Forums box and still couldn't narrow down on much.

I've got no particular insights on WB, but if you do a forum search make sure to use advanced search and increase the timeframe to "all time"(the default setting only shows posts in the last month and you probably won't see much).

Just like any other formation, you have to decide whether you want to be a mainly running team, mainly passing team, or a balanced team. Then recruit accordingly, and set your practice plan/playbooks for run/pass/balance.

the great thing about the wishbone is you can play your Fr RB full time in that third spot that don amount to squat

I've won NC's with every formation except WB. I never could get the hang of that one. But many coaches have won with it so it can be done.
Personally, if you are going WB, I would find a coach who has either won NC or at least gotten to the NC game with it and beg for advice via Sitemail.
Many a coach have given up secrets they would never share in this forum via sitemail where it was one on one.
