Increasing Team Rating / Developing Players Topic

Any time I've taken over a team I've never been able to greatly increase the team rating. The rating usually drops. I have decent recruiting classes for the most part. I win a lot of games. But I'm just bad at developing my players I guess.

One example is The Big East in Heisman. I was doing well but not dominating. Temple was a sim for the first couple seasons then s_cottrell came in and turned them into a power almost overnight. I did manage to beat him one time in the regular season but he beat me two years in a row in the conference championship and went to the final 4. I know he's one of the GOATs of the game but now they are the highest rated team in the Big East and one of the top teams in the whole world. I haven't been able to come close to that in four seasons.

I always play my backups when I'm blowing someone out. I thought that would be helpful but it hasn't made a huge difference.

Do you do that by only recruiting players who are "high"? In that case, would you take players who are much less developed now so they have the potential to get better fast?

I've been doing much better the last few seasons. I've been to five championship games and won two of them. But, honestly, on both teams, the seniors were from the previous team owner. I didn't build those teams entirely. And I'm worried I won't be able to build my own team from nothing to a championship until I lean to develop players better.

Any advice would be so helpful!

Yes, you need to recruit players who have high or very high potential. Work ethic is also very important. A work ethic over 45 or 50 is what you want to look for, but definitely look for players with a work ethic over 40.
