Is it the first 11 players on the field? The depth chart for the first formation selected? The player with the most plays? Just top of the generic depth chart? Something else?

It's primarily based on play percentage I believe, and more than one player at the same position can get credit for a start.

It varies a little bit (maybe based on your positional roster balance?) but it seems that most players can get a start credit with around 35%(plus or minus) playing time.

I've seen starts as low as 25% and not getting a start as high as 40% - The admins don't have good answers for their equation. They basically told me you have to get someone to 60% to guarantee a start which we all know that's not true.

35% is a good baseline number but you may want to consider 40% if you dont want to play with fire.
