Can someone explain the difference in player ratings between the player pop-up page (things like Strong Arm QB, Overall QB, Scrambler), and the ones on the depth chart page? They are not the same values for shared definitions (like overall RB). Which one is more important? The player page or the depth chart page?

GD's player ratings systems and philosophies are an inconsistent and confusing mess, especially after the last dev chats.

Functionally speaking though...

* the ratings on the player card are determined only by WIS(supposedly an altered version of GUESS ratings?) and the formulas cannot be seen or changed.

*the ratings on the depth charts page can be altered or customized by coaches via the formulas seen on the position roles page.

This is a ***** of an optimization problem to solve for what attribute weights WIS is possibly using by trying to find a formula that equals the WIS attribute ratings on a player profile card for each role. I have kinda started doing it since reading this post. Have only gotten through a few positions and have not built out enough of a sample for each of the positions however it can be done, im unfortunately sick and dont want to do it all right now but will eventually.

QB: Whatever WIS is using is close enough to GUESS- I believe they are using more than just the 6 that GUESS uses
OL: I believe theyre using more than just the 5 that we use for GUESS
DL: Have a pretty good solution and this is the only one I have over 20 players from a current worlds recruiting period tested in. DT and DE are pretty solid and comparable to Guess however the overall DL is a bit wonky but fits the sample size I have given it so far.

Might report back in next week or so when I am feeling better and have had some more time to build it out with proper sample sizes (30+ per position)

greener, make a ratings template that you want to use, and stick to it. That will be more important than anyone else's template. Using the Guess ratings isn't a bad start, but one size does not fit all, since you are trying different things than other coaches and you will need different types of players. As you see which of your players perform as you want them to and which do not, you will be refining your templates.
