Base stealing tendencies Topic

Been out the the game for a while. Picked up a league a bit back and slowly into it again. When I was really active I was playing a lot of live so stealing success usually came down to catcher arm and success % stats. Now that everything is simmed I have been trying to make sense of stealing controls. It seems to me that 1-5 may not be an equal scale across players in the advanced tab?

I generally set 1-5 based on success % in real life. However I am seeing some weird things. For example I have guys set to 5 in adv as I want them stealing any chance they get. I have another guy set to 3 and he seems to actually attempt to steal non stop.

player a set to 5:
In 28 games:
hitting .300+ .400obs 7 for 7 stealing, speed 87

player b set to 3:
In 25 games:
hitting mid 200s obp in 200s 14 for 20 stealing, speed 92

Player b is just running too much. I’m fine with him running against bad catchers but it feels like every game he either swipes another or is CS. Obviously I am happy if he is successful but it feels like I am not actually in control given the stats above and trying to make sense of the controls. Any insight or advice is appreciated.

One more note. IRL: player b stole 80 bags (dead ball), player a stole about 40. And is only reason why I can think sim is trying to get on similar paces with how often they go. However it seems to defeat the purpose of setting how aggressively I want one to steal vs the other? Is the 1-5 turkey relative to how many they swiped IRL?

Yes, it is directly related to how often they stole in real life. See the notes at the bottom of the advanced settings page
