Two things worth noting:
1. The Gilette commercials included African American players, in 1956, which is nice to see.
2. Gilette gave away a Baseball Encyclopedia with its razors!
The Yankees, except for Mantle, Berra and maybe Bauer, don't seem that impressive. I always wonder how they dominated all those years.
I mean Enos Slaughter, age 40 is their number 5 hitter. Compare this lineup with say the 68 Tigers or 69 Orioles or the 75 Reds, or even the 57-58 Braves they would later face, and it is strange how regularly they won.
