Adjusted numbers versus pure totals--best choice? Topic

What I mean is this. Trying to decide between '97 Tino Martinez and '72 John Mayberry. Mayberry's adjusted numbers are clearly better, having played in a pitcher friendly year. But Tino has 66 more plate appearances and a 128 to 101 advantage in total RC, thanks largely to a whopping 44 to 25 HR advantage. They rate roughly the same as fielders, Who do you choose?

forced to choose I would take Mayberry because he's cheaper and Tino's home runs will not normalize well, but neither are very cost-effective. I would recommend against drafting a first basemen with both fielding and range grade B or above unless the range is A++++, you're paying a lot of extra money for not much in the way of gains in fielding

Of those two, I’d also pick Mayberry but agree with 06 in I wouldn’t pick either if I had a choice.

I’d go with 1894 Connor or 1956 Wally Moon who perform great better IMO

In this particular theme league, Tino and Mayberry are clearly the best options. Unless you want to try Steve "Bye Bye" Balboni LOL. But thanks for the input--I'm going with Mayberry.

Better choice. But don't let him party the day before the big game!

I Column Optimized $/PA ... I think I have used 1942 most with the 647 PA but I knew I was paying somewhat for the A-/A+ but liked the idea anyway
