Harden in State Farm teams? Topic

I'm interested in trying a 150%+ State Farm style team, but looking to mix things up a little bit. How do people feel about Harden as the primary scorer? I'm thinking of the 19-20 edition in particular.

He's 100% at SF, he chips in elite usage with solid efficiency, he's allergic to midrange shots (by guard standards), and he contributes respectably at
  • Assists - 21.9% AST, he'll get around 9 dimes a game (using non-warped stats)
  • Rebounds - 12.9% REB (combined) gets him 5-6 boards per game
  • FT - even though no one gets their real numbers, he'll shoot about 7 FTs a game at an 86.5% clip
  • Steals - 2.1%, about 2 per game
  • Blocks - 1.3%, surprisingly about 1 per game
  • Defense - a very respectable 72 (justice for Bill Russell)
He does this all at a reasonable cost/min (well, it's sub-Giannis at least). I know he turns the ball over a lot, but I'm seeing a lot of pros and not as many cons. Are people attached to Magic at SF on State Farm teams? With Harden at SF, you could probably go with Jokic in the big spots, or trim usage and budget by going for specialty REB+AST big guys.

I've used several different guys on State Farm teams and succeeded with them all. I've even used Steph at SG, giving up 20% ast% in the process... So, yeah, Harden can definitely work! You could even go for the huge ast% season at 2-guard if you wanted to keep Magic in. Flexibility, man, you've got it! Do it & then share your results in 2 months!

Thanks, Ash! What little I know about the State Farm teams is all from you.

I'm going to try pairing 19-20 Harden (AST%: 24.4) with 67-68 Wilt (18.3%). It's probably more budget than usually goes to big guys in State Farm, but I like how those two alone add up to 10 usage points, so I don't have to think about those for 36 minutes of the game. Also, I feel like Wilt brings a interior presence that Jokic or LeBron alone can't fill; Wilt basically *solves* boards, blocks, and brings good interior defense, all while shooting better and providing the PNT shots I need to keep teams from going +3 PER on me.

I like the idea of Harden at 2 and Magic at 3, it can definitely get the AST % higher than Harden at 3, but for now I'm going to avoid 'overpaying' for Magic's usage (maybe I'm just a Magic hater), and I'll go for the lower price Rondo/Nash/Kidd tier to fill out my backcourt. With Wilt locking down the paint, I'll throw in Jokic at the 4 as my 2nd/3rd scorer and secondary rebounder; the 18-19 version mostly covers usage points when Harden's sitting.

Pre-rookies, I'm looking at about 152% AST from my starters and more like 146% average for the roster overall. It's a little top-heavy, a little soft on defense, we'll turn it over a lot, and my guards are much worse shooters than I'm used to, but if I can get anywhere close to the ~10% shooting bump I've heard about, it could be a good team!

Ding ding ding!

My username everywhere used to just straight up be my first and last name. When I decided to switch things up to be a little less cognito, it was the first thing that popped in my head - that poem has always stuck with me.
