I assume the following to be true:
- Blocks reduce the opponent's FG%
- Steals increase the opponent's TOV%
- Defensive rebounds decrease the opponent's ORB%
- Fouls increase the opponent's FTA
My question is are all of these already factored into a player's defensive rating, or does the defensive rating refer to defense outside of the boxscore?
Does defensive rating incorporate blocks, steals, and DRB? Does it incorporate a player's fouls leading to FTM? Or should I view defensive rating separately from these statistics, and use a player's defensive stops & fouls to augment/ diminish his defensive (rating) value?
THANK YOU!
