dwindling user base Topic

next time you wonder why WIS nba user base is dwindling, it is the extremely passionate but toxic community of die-hard WIS players who take this site wayyyyy too seriously and erode the fun for casual players.

and i'm sure this longtime user community I am referencing is going to pile it on here, and call me out for this random dispute, but I just want it stated that a) I was absolutely 100% compliance with the stated rules and 2) it effected nobody. I can't help it if 23 other owners didn't think of my slight unconventional draft strategy, doesn't mean I should have to change my team!! but man, the dismissive response I got just turned me off.

so this longtime WIS user since 2001 is finding better things to do with his time. This episode just served a reminder I've been spending way too much time on this site anyway.

But seriously, the foundation user base is passionate. but take this wayyyyy too seriously! i mean, two hours to wait for a pick on memorial day and the toxic impatient responses!! it is like a bunch of mall cops over-policing their mall so that customers don't even want to come shop anymore. its going to be whittled down to its last 20 or so die-hard users (and their 10 burner accounts. lol...if you're one of those people who pile it in the forusm using multiple accounts, come on we all know its happening....you really need to take a long look in the mirror). peace, hope I win this last league NBA58616, end my WIS career on top.

The 10 burner accounts is the bigger deal, and when they get caught with one it's amazing how big of an extended family they have or how many friends that they pay for so they can play the game. You don't have to quit the game, but you do have to be more careful who is and isn't in the leagues you want to join. While I have a lot less less options as this specific person seems to be almost everywhere, I find the game much more enjoyable.

Anyone know of a draft league where you can draft a guy, then refuse to put him on your team?
I haven't heard of one, and that is the issue here.
Sorry, but that is the whole point of draft leagues man. Its a steadfast rule in any draft I have ever been a part of for 10+years here.

times two- it was an unwritten rule but very much should have been understood

wait... someone drafted a player in a draft league but wouldn't put him on his team? someone tried to pull that many years ago in either the odl or the funk52. Whichever league it was pulled in actually wrote it into the rules afterwards... I have no idea if this is the case or not, but if it is the case, gl with whatever things in life you choose to do that you can get away with not obeying the rules (for the record, that seems to be most things in life).

If that is the case, the rest of us are better off without him.
Sure, too serious can be annoying at times, and I'm sure others have thought that about me more than once, but quitting the site over something where you are so clearly wrong, is pretty amusing.

Not to sound like a total dumbass but what is the point of drafting someone and not putting him on your team?

His stated intention was to “screw people over” by taking Don Buse and Norm Van Lier. I think he thought many of us in the draft would be using either of those 2 as backups. His interpretation/theory was the draftees were exclusive but “not inclusive”.

The problem is that he would have rather quit than actually use Norm Van Lier. It's hard to be convincing that your intention is to exclude a specific player from the other owners when you want nothing to do with him. If he's that undesirable then the strategy is worthless.

Also perplexing, he drafted third from last in round 6. Only 2 owners were left to draft after his pick of Van Lier...
