2010-11 Player release Topic

Quick note on the upcoming release of 2010-11 players:

There's some good news to report.  I've come up with a new system for defensive ratings. The biggest difference is that it will no longer factor in defensive rebounding as the old system did.  That means guys like Troy Murphy will come down to more reasonable levels.

In addition, the new system allows much easier updates to the data, so I'll be able to release the players soon after the season ends.  Then, when the defensive awards come out I'll make any necessary adjustments to the affected players.

This means that I'll need to update the entire player pool to account for the new defensive ratings.  I don't have a definitive time-frame yet, but I'm hoping to do it Thursday the 14th or possibly Friday the 15th.  If I run into any problems it could be pushed back until early next week, but I don't foresee that happening.

Great news!!

Please adjust the salaries down about 10%-15% while you are at it.

Thanks!!

Any chance you could add eFG% for the SIM stats to the sortable team rankings sections?

I would also like to see some way to further adjust playing times for players based on when the team is winning or losing by certain margins or at certain parts of the game.  Example, if I have Shaq or Wilt, and am winning late, I would prefer to them him out and put in a better FT shooter, since my team is going to start getting fouled a lot.  Something similar to how you can adjust your team situation handling, but for each individual player.  Does this make sense?

Yeah Seble your game loses credibility with the rookies playing so many mins and ppl drafting 17,500 mins.  Thanks for the update and coming changes.  Sounds great.

Seble, will the change to defensive ratings affect teams currently in the midst of their seasons or will it only affect teams that haven't started their seasons yet?

Seble, since TS% is part of the factor that is used determine salaries and player effectiveness, can that be a searchable stat in the draft database?

Otherwise, sounds great.  Thanks.

I think they avoid allowing adjustments on an individual basis because it could be exploited.  For instance I could have a bunch of high 3pt% players that are just cheap scrubs and set them as my 3pt lineup.  Then put all my setting to the highest time of "3pt offense" allowable.  Just one example but I'm sure whatever system they put out that allows for individual tweaking people would find a way to exploit it.

Also, glad I was lazy about building my next team.  Was just about to start one when I saw the update coming.  Looking forward to seeing the adjustments.

There's a lot WIS can take from the baseball side and transfer to basketball; searching features, roster settings, etc.

echoed about TOV%!  This is one of the most important stats in the sim and it's hidden.  We have to do a lot of work to find it.  It'd make much more sense to be able to search for it on the site that uses it as the primary determiner of a player's likelihood to commit a turnover...

@deadruster:  efg% is already a displayed, searchable & sortable stat.

Please, please, please just let him get the new players added first, so we don't end-up getting them in July.

In theory no changes are being made to the actual sim engine, so I wouldn't think it would affect current leagues.  Seble, can you clarify this for us.
