Combination of defensive reb, blocks, steals, and defensive awards along with an additional metric if I am not mistaken

nice

i wish someone could do a basic faq for new players to help them understand these things as well as the fact that minutes aren't important

I wish I knew how to just post that picture without the link - then again it's kind of a nice punch line for the unwary

It's supposed to also use something about team defense.  I think the theory was that if you were a good defender on a bad defensive team, you wouldn't be penalized very much for it.

But it's obviously broken as 08-09 Chauncey Billups (good defender, decent defensive team) rocks the 50 while 08-09 Troy Murphy (average at best defender on bad defensive team) rocks the 96.

So laughably broken.

Yes they need to improve the defensive reasoning for sure. Murphy is a terrible defensive player! So is Zach Randolph but they seem to be blind quite a bit!

seble admitted there was a mistake in both the 08-09 & the 09-10 players for defensive rating, but said it didn't matter enough to bother with changing.

Yeah.

97-98 Eddie Jones 80

old joke.
Although they matter less than people think.  Actually, fatigue matters less than people think (which is an indirect way of saying that minutes matter both less and more than people think).

Exactly.  Kidd couldn't lock down 3/4 of the PG's last year and Jones was the bes defender at his position (btw I would have loved to have seen Fish, Kobe, Jones, Horry, Shaq  I always like Jones and thought the Lakers made a mistake getting rid of him).
