New salaries make the game unplayable for me. Topic

I feel kind of like a heel for doing this, after Seble finally put in some effort and updated the sim, but I really find the new update has made creating a team in the open leagues way too constrictive. I have a hell of a hard time just getting enough minutes on my team now. I want to play whatifsports, not whatifscrubs. I realize its probably not going to get fixed anytime soon, considering how long it took for this update. Hell we were lucky to even get the update, for a time there I though the sim was dead. However after this update, I fear this sim may really be headed for the bucket for good, especially if it takes another couple years to fix it.

Sorry for the rant, for those of you who actually do like the new update, good luck, I hope you have fun and enjoy it, sure wish I could.

I'd have to agree with you. Initially I was very excited that the update was done, and I could make a new team. But after putting together a team that looked like a bunch of scrubs, the fun soon evaporated. People in my league that have never played before are complaining about how crappy the sim is compared to other leagues, and it is looking ugly!

I don't hate the new SIM as much as others, but I do hate the way WIS treats bball customers.  Would any company design and mass produce a product without testing it first?  Then blame the customers for not liking the product?

Obviously it would make sense to run an exhib of the new sim for a week or 2 and then finalize it.  Obiviously that is too much to ask.

Too bad we are about 95% toward a much improved SIM, with Rice, Barros et al much more expensive.  I guess that final 5% will always be too much to ask for!

I think for most of us raising concerns at this point, the solution of bumping the open league cap to $47 mil should ease enough frustration to help us run an experimental season.  I rarely play open leagues for reasons stated in other threads, but I can pretty safely say that I won't at this point until the salary situation is adjusted one way or another.  I was a big fan of the changes I understood were happening, but I clearly wasn't listening well when seble alerted us (and to be fair to him, he did) that salaries were increasing for player seasons with limited minutes.

And airstilt, I hope you consider trying out one or more theme leagues where salary caps can be adjusted by commissioners (and if necessary negotiated among GMs).

"I want to play whatifsports, not whatifscrubs"

Best line I've heard.  I agree with most of what you say, airstilt.  I play more themes than OLs, at a time, but due to the nature of the slowness of themes filling, I probably have played way more OLs than themes total.  OLs are what kept me going.  I'd mess around with a new concept in an OL, or flat out put together several of my favorite players and give 'em a spin.

I can't do that now, so there's no motivation for me to do that.  And when I'm in between virtually all of my theme leagues, that leaves me zero desire to even visit the site (despite the fact I have three teams still running - lol).

I may start running a theme league that uses OL rules but has a $47M cap.  The bright side of doing that would be, if you win, you get 2 free teams instead of just one (once you get 10 finals appearances, anyway, which I've had for a long time).

I am done with the OL's now until there is another update. I probably won't be playing very much though as the theme leagues take forever to fill up.

09-10 draft league only needs 2 more......join up smiley

I'm not a big fan of drafting for just one season. Sorry.

Yeah the issue is when we were talking to Seble about this we were trying to get the Ray Allens and Moses inline what they were really worth.  So they went up 20-30% in salary. What was never told to us the lesser minute players when up as much as 300%.  Trying to get Seble to take players below 1500 mins and cut their salaries by 30%.  That should make it a much better SIM.

it's always too much or too little with him - he has no sense of nuance

"This happened in SLB awhile back and they fixed it eventually to some degree.  Be patient and send tickets en masse to illustrate your disgust.  That is the only thing that WIS understands, unfortunately.  Threaten to walk away and make sure they hear that message from a lot of you, and they will make adjustments.  Money talks, and WIS is no different than any other private company in America."

That's the problem - there's not a lot of us left.
