Been looking through the new ballpark figures. Small sample size has really taken hold with MLB's four newest parks:

Target Field 0 / +1 / +1 / -4 / -4

Yankee Stadium (III) +1 / -1 / -3 / +3 / +4

Citi Field -2 / -1 / +1 / -2 / -1

Nationals Park 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0


Check out all the variety we've been given in the last three years. Yankee (III) is unique, more HR-friendly and anti-XBH than any other park. Target gives you a new twist on Astrodome-style teams with an emphasis on XBH. And Nationals Park has amazingly been 100% neutral. It's the first park since 1909 to achieve that feat. Looks like we don't need WhatIfSports Park anymore.

Yankee Stadium in 2010 has been less HR friendly than in 2009. Shouldn't those rankings have decreased if anything?

Yeah donald that's what I was thinking as well. I should dig into the numbers before claiming this, but my first guess is that the whole league is down in HR this year and Yankee Stadium might not have dropped off in HR numbers as much as other stadiums.

It's possible that Yankee Stadium went up a bit not because of any significant difference between last season and this but due to the fact that they adjusted the cutoffs for the various ratings to try to get a better distribution.  In other words, it's possible that the actual HR factor behind the rating went down slightly but the rating went up.  They did mention that they adjusted ratings to improve the distribution.  It's still the factors that matter and they don't tell us what they use for those.
