STUPID Question? Topic

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is contact rate, how is it calculated and does it factor into the WIS decision tree?

Would a high rate indicate a hitter who doesn't walk often?  And, would that stat be useful when building a team to play in an extreme hitter's park (like Coor's)???

Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE:

I found the calculations and it appears my attempted understanding of "contact rate" above is closer to that of the "hit rate" statistic.  But, my same general inquiry still stands......

does either contact rate or hit rate factor into the WIS decision tree?

AND, do those stats come into play when identifying players who might best take advantage of the extreme hitters parks???

Contact rate is the inverse of Strikeouts per 100 AB.   If a player strikes outs 10 time in 100 AB, then his contact rate is 90 per 100 AB or .900.  I assume that contact rate factors into the decision tree as how likely a batter is to strike out vs putting the ball in play.
