I got hit on by a former ML pitcher tonight... Topic

Playing poker with this guy and he casually mentions he used to pitch in the Majors.  I get all excited, me knowing just about every pitcher worth a crap in the last fifteen years from playing ROTO and SIM.  Name was Jared Fernandez. I kind of remember him, but not really.

Checked his stats, not that impressive, but he did play in the bigs.

Not bad poker player and kind of cute, but not my type so I did not take his bait.

Too bad the ladies won't touch his knuckleballs as easily as major league hitters did.

You sure it wasn't May Day Malone?

I thought you said you got a hit off a major league player... like you were in some sort of adult baseball league.

BTW, you don't need to suffer his advances when you can flat out OWN the guy for a mere $810,808 on WIS.  Just be warned that he only was good for 3.19 IP/G, so his stamina is suspect.

Years ago, I posted a story here about how I was working as a bouncer in a nightclub in Pittsburgh in the late 80's  and had to bounce an obmoxious baseball player who wouldn't leave my then-girlfriend and now-wife alone.  He didn't have a bodyguard in those days, I think it was like '87 or '88.

I still joke with her about how she could have been the other woman for the all-time MLB HR champion.

You bounced Hank Arron from a bar in '87?
