I'd appreciate some opiions. I'm entering a theme league and have the choice between the 1916 Joe Jackson & the '26 Johnny Mostil. The team will be playing at either Shibe (+2/0/0/0/0/ 0.99) or Comiskey I (+1/0/+1/-1/-2/ 0.98)... probably the latter. My best pitchers, essentially all my pitchers, are pre-1920.

I'm leaning towards Joe, in fact have him penciled in. He costs a bit less money, but a bit more when looking at the $/PA. I have a couple decent OF's, but like the idea of Johnny in CF... don't have a lot of power, but enough given the stadium. Am wondering if I'm defaulting to Shoeless Joe as he is the more "famiiliar face". Thoughts as to what you might do? Thanks in advance.

I like Jackson in Comiskey, but that's because he fits what I look for in a hitter far better than Mostil does.  I don't know what you're looking for, though.  I've also used Jackson many times with good results, so I'm biased in that regard.  Mostil has too many PAs for my taste, I wouldn't ever see him in a draft search for that reason, so I've never used him.  I just look at Jackson's /100# hit rates and advantage in AVG# and to my eyes he's the better choice.

Guess I'll play the contrarian here.  Jackson has three obvious advantages -- he's clearly the better hitter, he's $400K cheaper and he's Shoeless Joe.  But I have a weakness for those high speed, big range, Lance Johnson-type OF's. Mostil's 121 RC are pretty good for a guy who also gives you A+ range in CF, and he has a big speed advantage and a nice OBP edge on Jackson.  Plus if Jackson shines for you, everyone will say "Of course," but if Mostil is a stud, everyone will say "Wow" and you'll get credit for a nice sleeper discovery.

Mostil by a half step... but maybe that's why you guys have so many more titles than I do. 

i ended up going with Joe... as Skunk points out, i really don't need all the PAs and Joe should perform better at the plate. I like his contact rating, but I really would have liked to try Mostil and don't know when I'll get another chance to do so.... still time for a chance

Unless I was scared I wouldn't find a CF, I'd take Jackon in a heartbeat.
