AAA normaliztion Topic

I know that normally players are normalized against their current season but how are AAA normalized? I think I remember it being against the latest season but not totally sure. I'm asking as I'm in a progressive using draft your own AAA and are wondering how the draft your own will be normalized vs the rest of the players from 1946.

I believe that if you manually draft them, they are normalized against their own year.

But if they're auto-generated then I think they're normalized against the last season in the database.

I asked this question...

The answer I was given was that "normal" AAA players are normalized against the current year for their league (ie: a 1925 AL player would be normalized against 2009 AL).

But pick your own players are normalized versus their real year. Just to avoid an incentive to pick relatively underpriced hitting stats from 1930 (or pitching from 1968) and have them normalize against current year.

Thanks guys, I was partially right but not totally. This will make things easier for us.

Which leads to something to ponder: What if a non-AL or NL player gets randomly generated? (Federal League, Union League, etc.)

That was actually a bug once. Remember the "super-AAA" hitters? They were all from the Federal League, American Association, Players League, etc, and they all were normalized against .000 batting averages, 0 HR/Ab, etc...

They generally batted .400-.500, despite a .250 average (or so) in real life.

I was the guy who identified that bug, spotted the pattern. If I recall right, they now normalize against most-recent year combined MLB average.

I may be wrong about the MLB. But i think that was how TZ described it was working, and if not, it is very close to that. Certainly, the "Super-AAA" hitters are dead.
