I simply don't know how to win. I took 2 years off of baseball because I was burned out. I bought a six pack and put together 5 teams. 1 went to the playoffs the other 4 did not get above .500. My current team is 8-13 and can't score runs. I need input.

Feedback please?

I'm not the best guy to give feedback, but I do know Busch is a killer for some reason. I've used it twice and my offense was horrid both times, even with some solid/good RL players

I THOUGHT I WAS ENTERING THIS THREAD TO OFFER ADVICE ABOUT MASTERBATION .... SORRY

First off, I would have gone one team at a time rather than go with 5. See what works and what doesn't. Chances are, you made the same sort of mistakes 4 times over and have to scramble to fix 4 teams.

Secondly, open leagues are notorious for having owners who abuse the system and enter the same, cookie-cutter teams ad nauseum. They're impossible to compete with when you're trying to find your way.

Thirdly, there's no bigger jerkoff around here than kahuna, so you have an expert opinion on his topic.

I have two comments, take them for what they are worth which is probably not much.

First: Kruck SUCKS in the SIM. I took him three times mainly for his great OBP, and for whatever reason EVERY time he performed so dreadfully I ended up cutting him. Heard many comments in agreement from other owners that he significantly underperforms.

Second: Why in the world does 02 Darin Erstad cost $5.9M? .283/.313/.389??? Nearly $6M for a .313 OBP, no power and a little speed? His performance history shows 40 seasons with an average OBP of .302!! That is pitiful. I wouldn't pay $3.5M for that. For about $6M you could get Willie McGee, Willie Wilson, Cy Williams, Roberto Clemente or a myriad of other .330 hitting or 30 home run guys. If somebody can explain how Erstad prices out at $5.85M I'd love to learn something.

You are paying a pretty penny for his defense.

isn't he good at 1b and Of? Guys that have good defense at 2 positions are really over priced.

Small sample size but heres my 2 cents...

Your offense should be ok but you have 4-5 guys who normalize poorly. Erstad is definitely not a guy I'd take ever again. He'll save you 40+ runs but theres other OF who can save you 30+ and hit well. The middle of your order is double play city. Alot of owners cant figure out why they dont score with good hitting. Many times this is the reason. You'll get less power than expected due to normalization as well.

The pitching looks ok, but I'd suggest looking for guys who have better HR/9# and + numbers. Chances are if you did you'd add at least 10 games to your win column.

I will suggest that you read the forums, look over the better teams in the leagues you are in, and follow the advice above. While I have never chosen Busch as my home field, I certainly have witnessed teams win there. I just lost 2 of 3 in the opening series of my own 90m TOC theme league to a guy based in busch. I don't think I have ever seen the elite among OL regulars use any of the players on your team, and only '02 Tannehill of your pitchers.

You'll probably not want to hear this but for your benefit and enjoyment of Sim, I'll ask the best question I was ever asked in Sim to evaluate a team.

Why did you pick the players that you did for your team?

I will leave you with one bit of advice, in my OL experience, finding the best value for your team is key to a successful Sim team.

After Joss, Castillo and Henderson, dump 'em all....much better picks out there for the money.....
