Does anyone win consistently anymore with HR teams in $80m leagues?

I have... in the last month, completed two seasons with HR teams. One was at Yankee Stadium III and won the world series, bowing out in the first round of the TOC, 2 games to 3. The other was based out of Great American. It went 98-64 and lost in the LCS to a better team.

Open League Team - "The Reckoning" - Lost in the LCS to the eventual WS champ who went on a serious roll with 20 games to go and never looked back.

what constitutes a HR team? Perosnally I dont see how you can win if just hitting the long ball is what you are looking at the produce runs with all these deadball pitchers in OLs.

I'll let you know if I lose in the ALDS, the ALCS, or the World Series. Yankee Stadium III is a fun place to play and a pretty easy place to draft for.

Babe Ruth `19 just led me to a championship in an $80 MM OL. He hit .317/.443/.711 with 64 HR's, 173 RBI, 147 R's and 133 BB's at Yankee Stadium III. I'm in the TOC final with Contrarian. Not a pure HR team, but the rest of the lineup has a little pop with Terry Pendleton and Dick Wakefield, who has been smoking in the playoffs and TOC.

You can win with any strategy in an OL. You many not win a championship but you cn make the playoffs and have a shot.

I once won 97 games with a team of Devil Rays....before they were good, I think it was 2006 or 2007.

The problem with most OL is that there are usually only about 5-6 people (I am actually just making that up but I think it is accurate) who know what they are doing.

A person who "gets" the game will win almost all the time, regardless of what strategy you use.

When you get to the playoffs, its usually all guys who are reasonably knowledgeable and (too) often at least one guy who has the "perfect" team.

If you play in a champs league it is much harder to win and some of the lesser strategies are at a major disadvantage.

I would be willing to wager that I could put a team in an OL and win 95 games and then put the same team in a CL and lose 95.

I guess what I am trying to say is, there are many strategies you can use to build a team that will be successful but some are more successful than others.
