Since the passing of Robin Roberts & Ernie Harwell last week I got an idea for a theme where every player on your roster must be deceased.

I thought each owner could choose an exclusive player so not everybody has Babe Ruth on their team

Usually, I like playing at $120 mil cap w/ a DH or $100 mil w/o a DH.

Thoughts? Interested owners?

I think you should do 1/2 league dead guys and 1/2 the league live guys.

Once upon a time, perhaps 3 years ago, I tried to create a "dead pool" league.

Approximately 100-130 former MLB players die each year (see baseball-referencel.com). During a 6 week regular season, that's about 12-15 players who will die.

So you could only pick live players, and if a player you selected died during the season, you got 30 bonus wins for determining playoff seeding.

I decided not to try to run it, but I had half a dozen guys thinking about it.

This is too much for me biglenr, actually comical, wanting someone to croak to get a shot at a sim playoff. Seriously that was a laugh I needed today....

It was a thought.... I decided not to run it becuase of that very reason. I've come up with some sick leagues...but that was one step too far even for me.

I had a co-worker about 5 years ago who takes part in celebrity dead-pools every year, inspired by that Clint Eastwood movie of the same name. He and about a dozen other friends invest $100, and name 10 celebrities, in 3-4 different age groups... The winner is whoever picks the most dead celebriites.

He used to talk about it all the time... XxX died, damn, I knew I should have picked him. It made me think enough to suggest the idea, and discuss it, but not enough to run it.

Would all of the current Astros be considered deceased?

Yeah I've heard of people playing in those "Dead Pools". I'm telling you it's morbidly comical. But your idea about the 30 wins about had me on the floor laughing. Firstly because people like us who are addicted to this sim are a little cracked in the head anyway, but give me a "dead" guy to vault into the playoffs is so hilariously sick I can't stop laughing about.....
