How many innings and how much should I pay for my lousy pitcher at the end of the rotation? Right now I was looking at Willoughby with 161 innings for 1.8M. Do I need to pay that much or will a 200K or 500K guy do just as well by pitching him until his arm falls off?

Boy never spend that kind of money on a mop ( A Swiffer maybe)
$200K or AAA at Mop $1.8mil you can get a very good closer for that.

I'm a little confused on what you're looking for. Do you want a mopup guy that comes in from the bullpen to pitch when the game is out of hand or do you want a 5th starter? If you are looking for a true mop-up, use a 200K or AAA guy like thurst said. If you're wanting a 5th starter, I usually pay a little more and get someone who might actually win a few games from time to time. I'd probably look in the neighborhood of 150 innings for a guy like that.

spend $204k on the '83 Pettibone, start him a couple of times at pitcher parks, and then park him as mop up....

i think he is the new and improved Harry Otis, just keep him out of HR+ parks and he'll go .500 for you and pitch 30 innings. I usually manage to get him 3 starts per season and, when rested, let him fill the mop up roll.

Hmmm, I almost never win games started my mops and scrubs anymore. Perhaps that is because I rest all my regulars and my bullpen except an even worse mop.
