This has nothing to do with WIS sim leagues, but I thought it would be fun to get a Roto Baseball League going with some WIS regulars. Leagues are more fun when you know the other owners in the league.
I've played fantasy leagues using Yahoo, Sportsline, and ESPN and in my opinion, ESPN does the best job administering free leagues. You do need an ESPN account to play (it's free to register and takes just a few minutes).
This would be a "Standard 5x5 Head-to-Head Each Category* Roto League" with a 25-round snake draft using the complete MLB player pool. The roster makeup is similar to standard roto league except one catcher instead of two. (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CO, 5xOF, UT, 9xP = 22 active). You get a 3-player bench and one DL slot.
The typical 5 x 5 categories will be used:
HITTING: Average, Runs, HRs, RBIs, SBs
PITCHING: Wins, Saves, ERA, Whip, Strikeouts).
*Head-to-Head Each Category: This means that you accumulate wins and losses by comparing the 10 statistical categories with that of your opponent for that week. If you win 6 categories and lose 4, then your record is 6-4 for the week. I find the H2H format much more enjoyable than the typical roto where you acculate the stats all year long.
Top 4 teams advance to the playoffs. Same H2H format but each round is over 2 weeks.
I'd like to draft tonight if we get enough interest. Start time would be around 10-11 pm EDT. The draft typically lasts 60-90 minutes, depending on how many auto-drafters there are.
10 teams works the best. If interested, post here and site-mail me your e-mail address so I can send you an invite through ESPN.
Thanks.
