WHAT THE ’F’ is WRONG WITH THIS? Topic

My team was 39-26. That was 19 games ago. Since then, we have lost 15 of 19. Been shutout 7 times and are now only 2 games over .500.

That is ridiculous. This same team was 5-1 against the team in 1st place in my division and had just taken 2-3 from his team to get to 39-26.

This makes NO SENSE. Any admin or anybody shed some light on this?

Did you just buy a six pack????

No. One time thing. I've done this 6-7 times now, and I've had sub par teams before. But, to be 13 games over .500 then have this kind of slide, is beyond stupid

Have you spoken to the `64 Phillies or the `07 Mets about it?

thunder1008-

no, i haven't. good joke, but this is still ridiculous.

team was hitting .280 at 39-26. we are now hitting .259. EVERYONE has stopped hitting.

like i said. being shutout 7 times in 19 games is completely absurd.

It happens...sometimes there is a reason (check the box scores) sometimes there isn't.

I frequently win 6 in a row and then lose 7 in a row for no apparent reason.

yeah...

just frustrating.

back to the drawing board i guess

Sometime you run into a series of good pitchers. A lot of guys rest their regulars in the beginning of the season and then bring them out a round game 20 or so. You may have beat up on someone's JV team for a while and now you are playing their "A" guys.

I posted this in our league earlier. ynotjanns offense was overperforming for the first 50 or so games, as his team hit .280 while only having a .273 RL avg (this is w/o accounting for pitchers). The team had little power and no speed in terms of SB, and this is not surprising as he only spent 33M on offense. Most teams underperform RL average for reasons that are obvious: they face better hitting/pitching than a normal MLB team. Over the past 25 games, things started to even out due to law of large numbers and his offense started to slow down.

His last 3 games were shutouts and they can be easily explained. He was facing my team, at my home park of safeco, and faced my 11.8M Cy young 2x and my 12.4M Addie Joss, who both have sub 1 whip#. Throw together all these variables of elite pitching, extreme pitchers park, and a fairly underbudgetted offense, 3 shutoffs are not really that hard to believe.

Yeah, don't want to be rough on you, but it looks more like the first 65 games were an aberration, as opposed to what is happening now. You underspent on hitting and this is the risk you take. Looks like you only have seven position players, and must be playing a AAA player at one spot. As much as the batting average #'s Tianyi pointed out, at a glance I noticed you have Bengie Molina with a RL OBP of .274, Omar Vizquel with a RL OBP of .305 and Buddy Bell with a RL OBP of .329. I'm thinking those three guys, your AAA and your P spot aren't going to get on base much and that's 5 of your 9 hitting spots. Aren't going to score a lot of runs with no power and nobody getting on base! Just ask the 2009 San Francisco Giants!!

I spoke to admin and they said it was because they "simply do not like you."
3/13/2010 7:52 PM
yeah. i was hoping pitching would be the key to this team.

i knew the offense was hitting above it's potential (Vizquel had a RL .249 but was hitting .335 the first 25 games)

but, i'm still surprised at just how bad things are. oh well.

thanks everyone
