Is it too much to ask if the "Mop Up" option was something like: Use Mop Up (when losing by "x" runs by "x" inning). I've had my mop up guy thrown into so many games when I was only losing by 1or 2 runs in the 7th or 8th, I don't even use it anymore. Consequently good relief pitchers are wasting innings on games when I'm down by 6 or more runs. Any solution to this?

there's a problem with the mopup setting? i had no idea

Same here. I've had the mop up come in late and lose a game when my closers have been at 100%. If there's a solution, I haven't found it.

I stopped using mopups recently. I just draft a few more quality innings, figuring it isn't worth the few games a year and the few innings a mopup is supposed to save you - for the reason you stated...if you get burned periodically it is not worth it. In addition I'm hopefully picking up a couple come from behind wins by scoring 10 runs in the last two innings off somebody elses scrub crappy mopup.

I will only use a Mop Up when my relievers are exhausted, and any time I use the Mop Up setting, its with a AAA. It hasnt seemed to cause me any games using this strategy that I can remember. Except for the occasional one or two, and im usually drafting 1200-1300 innings.

I never set a guy to Mop Up. It's bad for their self-esteem.

OK, everybody agrees the current "Mop Up" setting sucks, if we
send in enough complaints will "they" do anything about? Any history here?

I think many of the complaints about mop-up are user error. I know I've been guilty of complaining only to realize I had a bullpen full of fatigued guys. But some of the user error comes from confusion as to exactly when and how sparky uses mops. I like napolean's suggestion of setting your own factors as to when he comes in.

I use mopups a lot as my last resort. On a progressive team I will sometimes have like 900 quality innings and the other x innings are guys I want to keep but aren't good this year. I need them to pitch but I know they suck. What I do is set them with a pull of 5 and let them have at it.

I'm a mop up abuser and my only complaint has ever been the tie game when you only have your closer and mop up available, and both have their respective boxes checked and the mop up comes in instead of the closer... WIS has improved the logic here significantly over the years, but I'd still rather it go to my closer first in a tie game in all situations... Other than that, I've never encountered another situation of mop up usage that couldn't be better controlled through drafting strategy/style or the advanced settings.

Ok, if you can create the setting at which time the mop-up guy comes in ie: losing by 5 in the 8th for instance, why not have him pitch the last two innings at 1, who cares if you lose by 12? Setting mop-up to 5, he gets pulled after a couple of hits and now your into your real bullpen AGAIN for two more wasted innings. If you look at this as if you were managing LIVE every game, it makes more sense to be able to set your Mop-Up parameters more closely. No? Comments? Dead Horse?
What?????
